The fourth week of Advent

In this fourth and final week of the Advent season we will think about love. A love that is so great it

It can be hard to accept love. We don't think we deserve it. That we have messed up to many times to be loved any more. Perhaps it's that love is a cheap thing to you. You have heard "I love you" so much from so many people the phrase holds no weight or gravitas with you.
continues to pursue us even to this day. A love that is so all consuming it takes every wall and breaks it down. This is the kind of love that Christ brought into the world.

Maybe what you thought was love really turned out to be disappointment. The love that was young and exciting and new quickly faded into arguments, bitterness and loneliness. Love is a sour taste in your mouth, so you withhold it from your speech and actions so no one ever can see your tenderness and take advantage of it.

Perhaps love didn't protect you the way you thought it should. So you don't trust love. Instead you hold it arm's length. Figuring that being in the cold and without any connections is the safer choice. It's better to be safe than hurt again.

That kind of love that the world offers is a cheap and false idea that our world offers. That is not lasting love. It is not true love. It is not Jesus's love for you.

Come, taste and see the lavish love our Savior brought to this world. It binds up the wounds of the broken hearted. It is a love that cares for the widow and orphan. It is a love waiting for you to embrace.
