The homestretch

We are almost there. Today marks the two week period that is the end of summer vacation. I would be lying if I said we have not made a paper chain to get us thru the last fourteen days.

The kids are sick of each other. With all the rain they have spent more time together and indoors than they have playing outside and with their friends. The littlest one is half wild animal because of all the screen time.

My husband and I are often at a stand off about bed time. Both of us sitting in our respective corners until one of us caves. Sometimes that is me, sometimes that is him. But more often than not we divide and conquer. The only early evening silence we get is during bath time. I know they still make noise, but the drip of the shower overpowers them.

Don't get me wrong. I love my kids. They are imaginative and beautiful creatures. They do really well together. We share a lot of things that we like to do together. Like reading, eating, watching tv and going to get ice cream. But sometimes we all just need a break from each other.

And we are at that point.

But soon school will start again. The big two will hop on over to fourth and fifth grade. The youngest will continue at her daily pre-school, and we will all enjoy each other a little more at the end of the day.
