A New Adventure

A few months ago I sat down to have lunch with a good friend. We do this occasionally, take some time to connect with each other, check-in on our families, projects and what nots. This time, my friend seemed a little bit more formal than in past conversations. There was an excited glimmer in her eye where there usually is warm greetings. After our food got to the table, my friend started to share about a dream that she had been watching grow in her heart. This dream is to bring together creatives in a collaboration to encourage women who follow Christ. Then, my friend asked if I wanted to be a part of this. To be one of the creatives contributing to the page. I wanted to scream, YES! and give her a big hug. But I also wanted to be serious and not jump in without knowing all the details. Past mistakes of jumping in and then burning out had left me self-aware enough to be cautious about joining the project.

After about a week, I was sure. This project was a gift. I had been feeling like it was time to move on from the ministry work I had been a part for the last decade. That was leaving a sizable hole in my spirit. There was a void starting to grow. As I was making arrangements to walk away, I was also being asked, what next? Then I had lunch with my friend. It is as if all the secret desires were lining up and being met. What I lack in consistency and accountability, this new project offers me. Where I am lacking in expertise, there are other sisters I can join arms with to learn and grow.

The invitation isn't just for me to be encouraged and learn from these women. The invitation is for you as well. I want to invite you to Jesus Sisters. Jesus Sisters is a community for all Christian women to belong- to be seen, heard, known and loved. Each month will provide a variety of articles and inspiration to help us unpack what it means to be in life together. This isn't about learning how to leap frog up the ladder to reach a certain level of success. Nor is it a place where we will debate with each other about sticky issues. Jesus sisters is like the front porch of my Mamaw's house. It's wide and deep enough for us to all have a seat in the shade with a glass of cool lemonade to soothe our parched souls. If you are looking for that kind of comfort for yourself, you can find the Jesus Sister's community on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=jesus%20sisters or follow us on Instagram @jesussisterscommunity
