As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, I have been going back thru old wounds. It's messy and ugly and not fun. It's basically what I despise most. But in that mire, there have been opportunities to make declarations. To say enough and there have been dragons to slay. That is my favorite kind of work.
When the opportunity comes to defend someone, that is a beautiful feeling. We can feel righteously indignant on someone else's behalf. We do not have to feel selfish, because we are pursuing someone else's cause. In deed we are called to do this. Called to stand up for the orphans, widows and marginalized. We are called to be bold in our faith, bold in our actions that have been blessed by Jesus.
When we are bold, that also puts a target right on our backs. When we are bold, when our voices rise on the cause of the suffering, we are also the first ones attacked. When we put ourselves out there, we are open to the flaming arrows of the enemy. And he is not noble in his attacks. There is no honor to our enemies battle strategies. Our enemy is sneaky. He cheats and lies and takes every trick to disarm, wound and even kill us.
I will not rest in that defeat. We will not simply lay down our weapons because the enemy has cut us off at the knees. No. Instead, I put on my armor.
You may think, why are all the pieces for the front of a person? Why are they all, but the sword, defensive? A couple of thoughts.
1. We are not called to fight. We are called to stand firm. our God fights on our behalf. Yes, we are called to stand with, call out, affirm, support and bear one another's burdens, but the fight adn the victory are our Lord's.
2. We are surround by a team of angels that protects us on all sides. They cover our backs, fronts. tops and bottoms.
3. My God goes before me in all things, so He has already prevented the evil one from attacking from the back.
So be bold, be courageous. Stand firm on the Truth of our God. Speak up for the widows, orphans, suffering and marginalized. Hold tightly to your sword. The enemy may be coming, but the victory is ours.
