Back in the Saddle Again

It has finally returned!!! That's right, school season has returned, Parents! Whether that means your kid(s) roll out of bed at 5:30AM and then hit the bus or you're homeschooling and don't start your day til noon, everyone with school aged kids is getting back into the swing of things. Yes, it's early if you live in the northern part of the United States, but for those of us in the southern half, it is time.

For our family, that means a new school (again). It's meant not having to go do the back to school shopping. It means getting everyone on board with packing a lunch Monday thru Friday. It's meant earlier bed times for the youngest and shutting down screens for the week. All of which brings me to my point.

We are done with the endless meandering of summer. Yes, that was important and lovely for a time. But let's be real. We all need a little structure in our lives. A rhythm that helps us define our days so that each week is not just a string of timeless pearls with no end in sight. There has returned instead the beautiful normalcy of school days. Weekends mean something again. There is the slightest release of humidity every once in awhile. We can observe the moon in the sky before ten o'clock at night.
Yes, it is back to school time. And I unapologetically love it! Our whole family loves it.

May the return of the smell of sharpened pencils and red ink bring you as much joy as the sound of the sprinkler from your back yard this summer.
