Everyone needs Compassion

We all need a little love. Some times we need to be reminded that we are worth loving. Other times we need to step out and love someone a whole lot that might not seem very lovable.

If we could just see past ourselves and open up the closed shut tightly doors to our hearts, I think we would find it a little bit easier to love. I know when I share a part of my story and they give me back a little piece of theirs, that's like a gift. To see the slow nod of understanding across the table. To recognize the pain in another's eyes. To offer a word of encouragement in the face of someone else's struggles. These are the gifts we give one another.

As precious and valuable as these gifts are, we only can give or receive them when we ourselves are willing to share the inner parts. Those parts of ourselves that are a little dented or bruised from life. Or the deep wound that has never fully healed. That part of ourselves we keep hidden. Eventually, we need to open up. I'm a firm believer in the Beth Moore quote "You better deal with your stuff or eventually it will deal with you."

If we could all just stop comparing our insides to everyone else's outsides, the world would be a kinder and gentler place. Let's stop putting each other up on a pedestal and instead take each other's hands and walk alongside. Turn face to face and open up.
